EXCITEMENT AS OORE GIVES BACK TO ALMA MATER TO SPUR EXCELLENCE IN STUDENTS

Excitement was in the air at the International School, University of Ibadan, Ibadan as a frontline traditional ruler, the Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Permanent Chairman of Moba Traditional Council, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, gave back to his alma mater.
Amid fanfare, the students lined up to receive Oba Adeagbo’s delegation to the school for the 2026 edition of the august occasion.


The Oore’s delegation to the prize-giving event in Ibadan, which comprised eminent sons and daughters of Otun Ekiti, included High Chief Obadofin and Chief Elemona of Otun Ekiti.
Oba Adeagbo, who had his Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates at the International School, chooses to give back to the school through the yearly Oba Adekunle Adeagbo Prize in Economics which he instituted four years ago to spur the students into excellence.
The monarch, who is ever-persuafed that “education is key to a bright and rewarding future”, said, ” My decision to Institute the Oba Adekunle Adeagbo best SS3 prize in Economics, which began four years ago, was to give back to my alma mater.
“I cannot forget the foundation the School gave me under the principalship of Archdeacon Iluyomade of blessed memory…The scriptures say…’What can the righteous do if the foundation is bad..and a good building is determined by the foundation..’

“It is my own little way of saying thank you to the school I did my O and A levels and prepare the students there for a bright and rewarding future which education gives. I am celebrating excellence among the students. The prize is to challenge the students, to make them look up to something if they excel”.
According to Oba Adeagbo, who said many prominent Nigerians attended the International School, the prize is another way of telling the students the products of the school, who have made it in life, are still with them and expecting the best from the students.
The monarch said the school was very pleased with the Oba Adekunle Economics Best SS3 Prize in Economics, adding, “The school is extremely pleased and they have visited Oores Palace many times for our festivals.
“It is a big bridge between Royalty and International Education. I and the Eweka of Obosi and Chairman Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers attended this prestigious School. Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala,The DG World Trade Organization, a daughter of University of Ibadan Professors, also attended this School before gaining admission to Harvard”.
