The 2024 Ileya Festival was another time in Otun Ekiti and indeed Mobaland for the celebration of love, peace, unity and tranquility.

As usual during the celebrations of Eid festivals, the Oore of Otun and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, accompanied by chiefs and notable people of the area, on the occasion of the 2024 Ileya Festival, celebrated the Eid-el-Kabir with the Muslims in Mobaland on Sunday.

The celebration was another moment for the monarch to take stock of developments in the community since he ascended the throne of his forebears.

Oba Adeagbo, looking back, said he would always be thankful to the Almighty as he prays, “Let our community continue to progress. Let us continue to grow from strength to strength. Let love, unity,
peace and tranquility continue to reign in our community, Amin, Ashe Edumare”.

The Oore said, “I thank Almighty God for rain of mercies upon the citizens of Otun Ekiti and Mobaland in general. It has been spectacular in the area of development since my ascension to the throne such as the improvement of Moba Secondary School to world class standard and as well Government Technical College, Otun Ekiti improved to world class status courtesy of World Bank funding and the Ekiti State AGILE programme.

“I also thank God for the rain of favour on our people. I thank President Bola Tinubu and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for considering our people worthy for appointments into positions”.

The monarch listed some of the appointments to include those of the SSA to the President on National Assembly (House of Representatives), Hon Ibrahim Olanrewaju; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Creative Economy, Prince Ayomide Adeagbo; new Head of Service in Ekiti State, Dr Folake Olomojobi.

Others included the election of Hon Akinlayo Kolawole from Ikosu Ekiti Mobaland into House of Representatives; the Commissioner for Youths, Hon. Gold Adesola from Osun Ekiti Mobaland; SSA to Ekiti State Governor, Hon. Banji Ajayi; and the new Registrar of Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Mr Babalola.

Oba Adeagbo thanked the Almighty for these and more, saying he does not take all the above successes for granted hence his thanksgiving at the Sallah festival.

The Oore supplied the ram for the community festival and donated N100,000 to Otun Ekiti Central Mosque.

The monarch, who said that peaceful coexistence among religious leaders is central to the development of the community, preached love to all on the occasion, saying, “Love of your neighbor as yourself is the virtue ordained by God Almighty himself”.

The Oore especially thanked the sons and daughters of Otun Ekiti in the Diaspora led by Prince Alhaji Tiamiyu Salau from Ile Eye Aba Royal Dynasty for their support to the community always.
