By John Odunayo

House of Representatives member representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole, has expressed dismay over recent killings in Ekiti State, saying it must be halted immediately.

Kolawole said the government of Mr Biodun Oyebanji and entire Ekiti people will not fold their arms and watch the killings of innocent souls under any guise in the state.

He said in a statement, “The recent ugly development in Ekiti especially Ado Ekiti, the state capital, recently is unacceptable, barbaric, cruel and disheartening. It should not be allowed to continue”.

Recall that gunmen on Tuesday shot dead a ticket officer of commercial motorcycles association and again on Thursday, at different locations, shot dead a Point of Sales operator and a rice hawker.

The Federal lawmaker said, “There is the need for urgent holistic measures to arrest the situation before it could lead to unexpected uproar.

“There is need for all security agencies to work together as a team to form a formidable body to put an end to such an ugly development in the state.

“The security agencies in the state should come together to work out a more professional modality to put an immediate halt to it. The police and other relevant security agencies must work together to bring the culprits to book to serve as a deterrent to others,” he said.

The All Progressives Congress chieftain commiserated with the immediate families of the victims, Ekiti people, government and prayed God to console everyone over the loss.

Kolawole who represents the people of Moba, Ido/Osi and Ilejemeje LGAs of Ekiti State at the National Assembly, urged Ekiti people to “always be your brothers’ keepers. Our people should always be security conscious”.

The federal lawmaker advised residents to always assist the government and security agents on useful and timely information whenever they noticed unusual visitors or movement around their environment.
