Colour and candour in Abuja on Friday as Gboyega Afe Babalola, son of renowned lawyer, elder statesman, and Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, got married to Amina, daughter of Abduljalil Tafawa Balewa, from the esteemed Tafawa Balewa dynasty.
The couple’s marriage was solemnised at the Ansarudeen Mosque in Maitama, Abuja.
Dignitaries at the colourful event included former President Goodluck Jonathan; Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji; Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; Senators Shehu Sani, and Gbenga Daniel.
Prior to the Islamic wedding ceremony, the couple had also celebrated their love with a civil wedding and a traditional ceremony, underscoring their commitment to blending modern and traditional practices.
Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, KBE PC, the paternal grandfather of the bride, was a distinguished Nigerian politician and the first and only Prime Minister of Nigeria.
The late Sir Tafawa Balewa’s legacy adds historical significance to the union, symbolising the convergence of Nigeria’s past and its present.
