Women engineers to parents: Let female children study STEM courses

The President, Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Engr Dr Adebisi Osim, has charged parents in Nigeria to encourage their female children to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses in tertiary Institutions, just like their male counterparts.

Osim said that only when female students study the courses that Nigeria could promote opportunities and eliminate barriers to career advancement for women engineers around the world.

The APWEN president gave the charge on Friday in a speech which she delivered to commemorate 2024 International Women in Engineering Day.

She spoke on the topic, “STEM For All”, on virtual zoom to Kaduna State participants with the theme, “ Enhanced by Engineering”.

Osim highlighted the significant contributions women engineers have made to society due to stem education, stressing that women engineers have helped in shaping society.
