It was another day of honour and celebrations at the Moba Local Government Chambers in Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State when the authorities of local government council held a special event to celebrate the life and times of the late HRM Janet Ara Adeagbo.
Olori Janet Adeagbo was the mother of the Oore of Otun Ekiti and Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo.
There were performances and entertaining activities on the occasion to honour the departed mother of the monarch.
The Queen Mother and Chairman, Kadejan Hotels, Ibadan, who passed on June 22, 2024 at the age of 87 years, was laid to rest at Otun Ekiti on September 27, after series of grand activities lined up as burial arrangement in her honour.
The event was presided over by the Vice Chairman of the local government, Hon. Najim Adedokun; wife of the local government chairman, Mrs Labake Fadugba; and the Head of the Local Government Administration, Mrs Bodunde Taiwo.
Also in attendance were Prince Ayelomo; Secretary to Moba Local Government, Alhaji Bayo Ayantoye; and the APC treasurer.
The Vice Chairman, Adedokun, who paid glowing tributes to the late Queen Mother, spoke about her good virtues and her respect and regard for the tradition of the community and the ancient stool.
Adedokun, who hailed the late HRM Janet Adeagbo for her philanthropist gestures and generous deeds as the first Chairperson on Egbe Omo Otun Ekiti Day celebrations in 1988.
The LG vice chairman, who described the late Queen Mother as “an astute business woman and major distributor of the Nigerian Breweries in the 80’s and a business mogul, who made impacts in the private sector and contributed taxes to the development of the nation”, said that she will be missed.
Oba Adeagbo, who expressed happiness with the honour given to his late mum and his family, thanked the leadership of the council for the gesture.
The Oore thanked the chairman of the council, Hon Dele Fadugba, and the entire executive council for their contributions and goodwill for a successful and befitting burial of Olori Janet Adeagbo.
