“While it is key that the hospital would boost healthcare delivery in the area, the community and by extension, Mobaland, would benefit from the health facility in many ways including employment, mentorship and exposure”
By John Odunayo
It was a joyous moment for the people of Otun Ekiti and Moba Local Government area of Ekiti State as they gathered for the foundation laying ceremony of Seventh Day Adventist Centenary Hospital in the community.
The Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, who led the people of the community to the event, expressed excitement that the project is coming to fruition.
The Seventh Day Centenary Hospital is a world class hospital being built by the Seventh Day Adventist Church to mark 100 years of the church in Otun Ekiti, headquarters of Mobaland.
Oba Adeagbo expressed delight that the community was chosen for a life-saving project of such magnitude as he appreciated the church leadership for the gesture.
He said, “Our community was chosen in view of the long-term relationship that Otun Ekiti has had with the church. The church has produced numerous sons and daughters of Otun Ekiti doing extremely well in their various careers all over the world”.
The elated monarch said that while it is key that the hospital would boost healthcare delivery in the area, the community and by extension, Mobaland would benefit from the health facility in many ways including employment, mentorship and exposure from Otun Ekiti citizens who are doctors and nurses in developed economies.
These, he said were among reasons the community was not taking the project for granted hence supported it with provision of land.
Oba Adeagbo, who had also made generous donation to building of the hospital, encouraged sons and daughters of Otun Ekiti to own the project, saying, “It is a community project. Generations unborn will be better off for this noble gesture.
The Oore solicited the support of all well-meaning Otun Ekiti indigenes, saying, “We should all make sure we contribute for the success and completion of the state of the art hospital”.
