Groups honour Ekiti commissioner, Filani, for contributions to health

* Filani reiterates Oyebanji’s commitment to pursuit of excellent healthcare delivery

For his outstanding contributions to the health sector in Ekiti State and indeed Nigeria, honours have continued to come the way of the Commissioner for Health in Ekiti State, Dr Oyebanji Filani.

The latest awards of merit, which Filani, who is also the Chairman Forum of Health Commissioners of Nigeria got on the day Nigeria celebrated its 64th Independence anniversary and Ekiti State marked its 28th creation anniversary are from the Egbe Omo Otun Ekiti, Ado Ekiti Chapter and the Great Minds International Communication Ltd.

While the Egbe Omo Otun Ekiti conferred the medical practitioner with Distinguished Merit Award of Excellence, the Great Minds International Communication honoured him with a Lifetime Recognition and Achievements award.

Presenting the Distinguished Merit Award of Excellence of the Egbe Omo Otun-Ekiti to Filani, the Ore of Otun Ekiti and the paramount ruler of Mobaland, Oba Dr Adekunle Adeagbo, lauded the Ekiti Health Commissioner for contributing positively in the improvement of the state’s health sector as commissioner.

Oba Adeagbo said the award was “in recognition of your pragmatic actions, leadership, readiness to serve, creativity and outstanding contributions to healthcare development and overall development of the state. Your ability to manage human and maternal resources to accomplish goals is outstanding”.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of the Great Minds International Communication Ltd, Prince Adewumi Ajibade, said that his organization honoured, Dr Filani because of “his significant efforts at improving the healthcare service delivery as the commissioner for Health in Ekiti and the Chairperson of Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum”.

Responding, Dr Filani stated that Governor Biodun Oyebanji had created an enabling environment for improved health outcomes in the state.

The Commissioner explained that the Ekiti State Government was committed to elimination of malaria, reduction in child and maternal mortalities through the establishment of Ulerawa Health Insurance Programme.

Filani said that Ekiti State Government had increased health workers’ salaries, empowered health workers with essential tools for productivity and service quality in the state’s health sector.

The medical practitioner expressed deep appreciation to the Egbe Omo Otun Ekiti and the Great Minds International Communication Ltd for recognizing his contributions to the sector.

He reiterated the commitment of the Biodun Oyebanji administration’s commitment to continue in pursuit of excellence in healthcare delivery as well as ensuring that all Ekiti residents have access to quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services.
