The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has sympathised with the Oore of Otun Ekiti, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, over the death of his mother, Olori Janet Adeagbo, popularly known as Iya Oba.
Iya Oba, a community leader and business magnate based in Ibadan, died on Saturday, June 22, at the age of 87.
Governor Oyebanji, whose condolence message was delivered to Oba Adeagbo by the Commissioner for Youth, Hon. Gold Adesola Adedayo, in the Oore Palace, prayed for the family to have the fortitude to bear the loss.
The commissioner was at the palace along with the Chairman, Moba Local Government, Bamidele Fadugba and members of the council’s Executive Council.
Oyebanji urged the children of the late community leader and businesswoman including Oba Adekunle Adeagbo to take solace in the fact that their mother lived a good and impactful life.
The governor said, “Mama lived a good life as a good developer. It is in record that Olori Janet Adeagbo was the first chairperson of Egbe Omo Otun Day Celebrations in 1988”.
The governor prayed that the soul of the the late Olori Janet Adeagbo would rest in peace.
The Oore, Oba Adeagbo, thanked Governor Oyebanji, for the condolence visit and acts of love to his community.
Oba Adeagbo said, “Your Excellency, I am very grateful for your love to me, my family and Otun Ekiti Community. E se pupo pupo. I am immensely thankful”.
The monarch, who said his late mother clocked 87 on June 6, said, “Mama will be missed”.
