The Provost, Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti, Dr (Mrs) Olajumoke Adebayo, has expressed joy over the positive developments in the institution in recent time.

Adebayo listed these to include due accreditation of programmes by the National Board for Technical Education and other statutory regulatory bodies; and accreditation by the National Universities Commission of the college’s Public Health, Environmental Health and Health Information Management degree programmes.

Also, the first set of the College’ Higher National Diploma (HND), Health Information Management graduates would be mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps programme this year just as the provost raised hope that the institution would soon transmute to a polytechnic.

Adebayo, who spoke at Ijero Ekiti during the institution’s 14th matriculation ceremony, lauded Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji “for his numerous contributions to the development of the College.

She also hailed the institution’s Governing Council Chairman, Dr Femi Thomas, and other Council members for their genuine interest in the progress of COHESTI.

The provost, while addressing the fresh students, restated the institution’s zero tolerance for cultism, gangsterism, gender based violence and other social vices.

She said, “The programmes available in the institution have been duly accredited by the National Board for Technical Education and other statutory regulatory bodies.

“We are hopeful the College will soon transmute into a Polytechnic, and will then be able to train students interested in studying Engineering, Technology and Management related courses”.

She said, “The first set of the College’s HND Health Information Management graduates will be mobilized for NYSC programme this year, just as efforts are in top gear to replicate the feat in other courses”.

She, however, thanked stakeholders within and outside the academic community, especially Kwara State University, for support, which she said made the recent accreditation of the College’ Public Health, Environmental Health and Health Information Management degree programmes by the National Universities Commission became reality.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) Coordinator in Ekiti State, Mr Olukayode Dada, hailed the college Management for not reneging in the task of uplifting the institution’s academic standard.

Dada urged the matriculants to be studious and focused in order to succeed in their chosen academic field.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the oath taking by matriculants conducted by the College Registrar; Mrs Caroline Ogunsakin, who did not mince words in applauding them for their comportment during the exercise.

The matriculation ceremony was attended by principal officers, Ekiti JAMB officials, deans, directors, heads of department, parents and well wishers.
