The presence of traditional rulers under the aegis of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria at the joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja on Thursday underscored the place of monarchs in the scheme of things.
The joint session was for the 2025 Democracy Day address presentation to the federal lawmakers by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The monarchs, who were nominated on geo-political zones basis, relished the moments at the august occasion, being part of the positive developments in the country.
The traditional rulers were led to the National Assembly by the NCTRN Co-Chairman and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan.
Prominent traditional ruler from Ekiti State, the Oore of Otun Ekiti, who is the Southwest Coordinator of NCTRN, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, who represented the Southwest geo-political zone, was in his elements as the traditional rulers ruminate on taking Nigeria to higher heights.
Oba Adeagbo, who is the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, in a chat with journalists, thanked the National Assembly leadership for inviting first class traditional rulers for the President’s address to the joint session.
The Oore expressed delight with the proposal by the National Assembly to give traditional rulers roles in the constitution, saying, “This will bring a lot of development to communities all over the nation”.
