A group of traditional rulers in Ondo State, under the aegis of 130 Crown Obas, has endorsed Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa ahead of the coming governorship election in the State.
The 130 Crown Obas announced their endorsement during a visit to the Governor in his office on Monday, describing him as the best candidate for the position.
A statement by Prince Ebenezar Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aiyedatiwa, stated that
the traditional rulers commended all the efforts of the Aiyedatiwa administration in the last 100 days, adding the the Governor has done well for the people of the State.
Aiyedatiwa, in his response, appreciated the traditional rulers for their support and endorsement, assuring the Obas that their various demands were duly noted.
The Governor said that the issue of allocating five per cent of local government allocation for traditional rulers was already under consideration, promising to address it within a week.
He also expressed willingness to provide vehicles for traditional rulers in phases and agreed to place their staff directly under their authority.
Regarding the periodic upgrade of Obas, the governor affirmed the administration’s commitment to reviewing and implementing upgrades as may be necessary.
