* Varsity honours Ogoga, Gov Mbah, Adesina, Senator Musa, Olowolafe

The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti is set to hold her first convocation ceremonies from March 3rd, 2025.
The university will also garland five prominent and distinguished Nigerians with Honorary Doctorate degrees as part of the ceremonies.
According to the statement from the Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee, Prof. Ibitola Makinde, the first of its kind occasion since the then College of Education was upgraded to a University status four years ago is planned to be a weeklong event.
Makinde said that the activities would begin with the Vice-Chancellor’s press conference, scheduled to hold on Monday 3rd of March, 2025 at 10am in the University Council Chamber.
He stated that “Tuesday, March 4th, is set aside to mark Alumni Day to bring together great minds who have walked through the institution. This will be followed by a novelty match between BOUESTI female staff and female students.
According to the statement, the celebrations continue on Wednesday 5th, with a convocation play followed by students’ variety evening of music, drama and pure entertainment.
“Thursday 6th March, is the prestigious Vice Chancellor evening, tagged ‘An Evening of Elegance and Celebration’ from 4pm to 6pm.
Makinde stated that on Friday 7th March, the University Library would be renamed after former Provost of the defunct College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Professor Olusola Olu-Aderounmu, describing the move as a tribute to excellence and scholarship to be followed by a jumat service at the Ikere Central Mosque by 1pm.
“The Convocation Grand finale holds on Saturday, March 8th, starting from 10:00 a.m at the University Sports Pavilion, starting with Convocation Lecture, titled “The Challenges of Higher Education in the 21st Century” to be delivered by Emeritus Professor of History-Akinjide Osuntokun. This will be followed by the crowning of the graduands as they take the bold leap into the future of limitless opportunities after years of hard work.h
She added that five eminent Nigerians would be conferred honorary doctorate degrees in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the society.
They are Enugu State Governor, His Excellency Peter Mbah; President, African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina; distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Sani Mohammed Musa; the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adejimi Adu, Alagbado; and the Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Dr Tunji Olowolafe.
The weeklong event will be rounded off on Sunday with a Thanksgiving Service at the Saint Peter Anglican Church, Ikere-Ekiti by 10am to express gratitude to God for the mile stone and praying for greater heights.
“Join us as we honour our graduands and celebrate excellence at the maiden Convocation Ceremony of BOUESTI,” she said.
