“Edutechment targets equipping students with skills, knowledge to succeed in an increasingly technology and entertainment-driven world”

LEADING NIGERIAN ARTISTS turned up for the Edutechment programme held at Federal University Oye Ekiti last week as part of activities for the institution’s ninth convocation ceremonies.
The programme had in attendance the students in their large numbers and members of staff who had come to see the artists in real life performance.
FUOYE Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, described Edutechment as “a blend of education, technology and entertainment”.
Prof. Fasina, in his welcome address to all attendees, expressed gratitude to the guests for accepting the invitation.
Ekiti State Commissioner for Art and Culture and Professor of Dance, Prof. Rasaki Ojo Bakare; and the state Commissioner for Youth, Mr Seun Fakuade, were among dignitaries honoured with awards by FUOYE at the programme.
The award recipients also included the artists – Femi Adebayo, Pa Peter Fatomilola, Toyin Adegbola, Dele Odule, King Dr Saheed Osupa, Muyideen Oladapo and Peju Ogunmola, who were physically in attendance and spiced up the event.
There was no dull moment as the artists treated the gathering to scintillating performances to the delight and satisfaction of the students.
“School is not a scam”, prominent musician, King Dr Saheed Osupa, said, to buouy up the students’ interest in their education and to dismiss the insinuation of some elements discouraging education.
Saheed Osupa urged the students to be more serious in their studies as he expressed his appreciation to the university.
Speaking at the event, Nigerian Nollywood star and President,
Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Dele Odule, expressed his appreciation to FUOYE management for organizing such a meaningful event.
Odule also made a generous commitment to provide a scholarship of N50,000 to the Best Graduating Student in Theatre Arts Department yearly for the next 10 years, showcasing his support and dedication to education and the arts.
Also, Femi Adebayo appreciated the Management of FUOYE for organising the programme.
Adebayo spoke about getting talents from FUOYE Theatre Arts Department for his next project.
In her address, the Director of FUOYE Advancement Centre, Prof. Olubukola Oyawoye, said, “The programme is to inspire students to explore the intersection of technology and education and to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Prof. Oyawoye further stated that the Edutechment programme was organized to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an increasingly technology and entertainment-driven world.
