Ondo State Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, has congratulated the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Dr Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on the conferment of a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) Honoris Causa by the prestigious Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD).
Akinlosotu described the honour as a well-deserved recognition of Dr Dabiri-Erewa’s outstanding contributions to national development, Diaspora engagement and exemplary public service.
ABUAD on Tuesday conferred the honorary doctorate on Dabiri-Erewa in recognition of “her pioneering efforts in putting Diaspora Affairs on the front burner”.
The commissioner, in a statement made available in Akure, lauded NiDCOM boss as a visionary leader, nation builder and global figure whose passion for the welfare and empowerment of Nigerians in the Diaspora had continued to earn her admiration and respect across the world.
He stated, “Dr Abike Dabiri-Erewa’s consistent drive, patriotism and devotion to service have made her an icon of integrity and inspiration. Her recognition by ABUAD is a testament to her enduring impact, leadership excellence, and commitment to building bridges between Nigeria and her Diaspora community.
“The honour reflects Dr Dabiri-Erewa’s trailblazing role in promoting Nigeria’s image globally. Her achievements continue to inspire younger generations, particularly women, to embrace diligence, discipline, and service to humanity”.
Akinlosotu also reiterated Ondo State Government’s unwavering support for the success of NiDCOM in driving policies and programmes that strengthen diaspora engagement and investment.
He emphasized that Ondo State remained a reliable partner in advancing the goals of the Nigerian Diaspora community through strategic collaborations with NiDCOM.
The commissioner cited ongoing partnerships, including the Ondo Diaspora Smart City Project, the annual Ondo Diaspora Week and various Diaspora investment and cultural exchange initiatives, as clear evidence of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to deepening relations with Nigerians abroad and promoting inclusive development.
