The First Lady of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo, has harvested fresh maize from her “Healthy Living Farm” in Awka, the state capital.

This came few days after the President’s wife, Oluremi Tinubu, harvested vegetables from the State House garden with call on Nigerians to embrace home gardening as a way of promoting food security.

The Anambra First Lady reiterated the call on Nigerians to embrace home gardening as part of efforts to promote food security, sustainable agriculture and healthy living.

According to Mrs Soludo, every harvest tells a story of patience, consistency and the rewards of making the right choices.

This was made known in a statement on Wednesday, where the Anambra First Lady noted that “by embracing agriculture, people can rediscover the richness of nature, promote healthy eating and build a culture where good health starts on farms and reaches every table”.

She encouraged every household to embrace home gardening and support sustainable agriculture in whatever way possible, adding that healthy living begins with making the right choices and cultivating healthy habits.

She said, “We had the joy of harvesting lots of maize from our ‘Healthy Living Farm’, a simple, but meaningful reminder that healthy living begins with the choices we make every day. This harvest is, of course, the product of organic, non-GMO farming practices that reflect the values we’ve consistently championed: eating fresh, natural foods and embracing lifestyles that nourish our bodies and protect our environment.

“For us, healthy living isn’t just a message to be shared; it’s a way of life to be lived dutifully. I believe that when we grow what we eat and choose wholesome, naturally cultivated foods, we invest in stronger families, healthier communities, and a brighter future for our children.

“Every harvest tells a story of patience, consistency, and the rewards of making the right choices. I encourage every household to embrace home gardening and support sustainable agriculture in whatever way possible.

“By doing what’s right, we can rediscover the richness of nature, promote healthy eating, and build a culture where good health starts from our farms and finds its way to every table. Healthy living is very possible, and it begins with each of us. Make it a vital habit today.”
