* We’ll ensure peace, stability across Ekiti towns – Oba Ilori Faboro
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has assured traditional rulers in the state of robust partnership for sustainable peace and development in all communities and Ekiti generally.
Oyebanji, who says the traditional institution is a fulcrum on which development, peace and stability are anchored, said these can only be attained if the council fosters strong partnership with government.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, spoke in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday while receiving the new Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori Fabori.
Oba Ilori Faboro, who was appointed as the chairman of the traditional council on Monday by Governor Oyebanji for a two-year tenure, led a delegation comprising his colleagues and chiefs on a thank you visit to the Governor’s Office on his appointment.
The appointment followed expiration of the tenure of the immediate past obas’ council chairman, the Onisan of Isan Ekiti, Oba Ayodele Adejuwon.
The deputy governor said, “We know the value of traditional institution in the maintenance of peace in our society. We are not going to take this for granted. It was in recognition of this that the governor built a new ultra modern Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Chamber in Ado Ekiti,”
Afuye urged the monarch to work assiduously and collaborate with government to make Ekiti better in all facets of the economy.
She said, “I want to rejoice with you Kabiyesi on this appointment. We are assuring you that we will partner with you to make your reign memorable.
“What Governor Oyebanji did to you is a honour and you must reciprocate the gesture by partnering the government for sustainable peace and development across all the local governments,” Afuye said.
The traditional council chair, Oba Ilori-Faboro, pledged that the council, under his watch, would wax stronger and deliver on mandate of ensuring peace and stability across towns in the state with the seemingly invincible cord of relationship existing between the monarchs and the government.
The Olojudo lauded Oyebanji administration for support to the traditional institution and as well praised the governor for his achievements in office so far under one year.
Oba Ilori-Faboro said, “It is in history that Ekiti traditional rulers begged and worked for the creation of Ekiti State. Governor Oyebanji knows how the monarchs worked for the creation of our dear state, so he is our representative in government.
“I am here to thank Mr Governor. He has done well for us. The job you have given to me, I will do it and succeed. I know you are here to make Ekiti great, we shall succeed together. I assure you, I will serve to the best of my knowledge,” the monarch said.
