Praises, celebrations as Olowu begins first coronation anniversary

It is celebrations galore as the activities for the celebration of the first coronation anniversary of the
Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof) Saka Matemilola, begin today, Thursday.

The frontline traditional ruler and member of BOILING POINT, is billed to address a World Press Conference on Thursday to signal commencement of activities for the anniversary.

BOILING POINT, an online media platform, has joined other eminent citizens of the world to congratulate Olowu Matemilola on his first coronation anniversary on the throne of his forefathers.

The traditional ruler is the Chairman of BOILING POINT’s Board of Royals and Elders, which comprises several prominent Nigerians including over 200 professors across the country.

BOILING POINT described the royal father as “a bridge-builder who has massively contributed to the unity and bonding of the Owu people of Egbaland and those in the diaspora in an incredible way”.

In a press statement, the Initiator of BOILING POINT, Mr Ayo Arowojolu, said, “The foremost traditional ruler has been making very significant impact in the unification of the Yoruba race especially in forging harmonious co-existence with brother Obas within his vicinity since his ascension to the throne in August last year”.

Arowojolu hailed the Kabiyesi for using his position to promote peace among the various ethnic nationalities in the country as well as working with relevant stakeholders and institutions to advance the socio-economic development of the people.

He described Oba Matemilola as “a vibrant, visionary and progressive monarch”, adding, “The Olowu has always been in the forefront of the quest for lifting up his teeming subjects out of the poverty trap particularly with his focus on education and health sector.

“Within the past one year, avid watchers of developments in Owu Kingdom would attest to the fact that Oba Matemilola is a Peace Ambassador and a Bridge Builder, who always lent his voice to the unity and oneness of the Egba nation and his counsel has always helped to calm frayed nerves at critical points.

“The Olowu has used his God-given resources as a philanthropist to contribute to the wellbeing of the teeming youths in his domain through sports development and enhancement of qualitative education especially in the areas of project sponsorship and provision of platforms for them to showcase their in-born talents.

“BOILING POINT prays that God grants Kabiyesi long life, good health and a peaceful and purposeful reign to continue to contribute meaningfully to national development,” Arowojolu stated.

The world press conference on Thursday will be followed by some medical outreaches and other events within the palace at Oke Ago-Owu.

Installation of chiefs will take place at the palace on Friday August 4, 2023, which incidentally marks Oba Matemilola’s 59th birthday.

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the Balogun of Owu and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun are among dignitaries expected at the grande finale of the coronation anniversary, which will hold on Saturday, 5th August. Activities for the day included installation of more chiefs.
