Lawmaker hails Oyebanji, says investors-driven US trip will add values to Ekiti

By John Odunayo

House of Representatives member, Hon Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole, said on Thursday that Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s just concluded United States business trip was an eye opener that would facilitate and encourage the much needed investors into the state and Nigeria.

Kolawole, who represents Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, hailed Oyebanji for the trip targeted at further turning the state into one of investors’ preferred destinations in Nigeria.

The lawmaker, who spoke in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti, assured Ekiti people that Ekiti lawmakers at both the state and federal legislative houses would continue to cooperate with Oyebanji especially in sponsoring and supporting good legislations that would assist the governor to develop the state.

He described Ekiti State’s participation in the US-Africa Business Summit and signing of memoranda of understanding with some international firms at the Summit “as further opportunities to further improve on socio-economic advancement in the state.

“The business trip has further confirmed the readiness of the present administration in the state to exploit every opportunity in and outside the country to bring about the long-awaited infrastructural and other social amenities revolutions that could guarantee prosperity and abundance in the state,” he said.

The lawmaker said a state like Ekiti with meagre IGR and federal allocations needs collaborative efforts and proper synergy between the government and serious private investors both at home and in the diaspora to make a headway.

He said, “The resilience, determination and zeal being exhibited by Governor Oyebanji to attract investors into the state at different fora since he assumed office, will catapult the state to a reference point of industrial hub for other states in the country to emulate in terms of good governance and development”.

The lawmaker also hailed Oyebanji for prudent management of resources, openness and accountability in all endeavours, saying, “The inclusiveness of all stakeholders irrespective of political or religious affiliations by the governor has created a peaceful atmosphere in the state under which every investor will automatically prefer to transact businesses and sleep with two eyes closed”.

Kolawole called on other leaders in the state to continue to contribute their quota towards the development of the state through selfless and unbiased service as being exemplified by the governor.

He said, “The governor has demonstrated “good leadership qualities that every progressive minded-person must follow to promote unity and homogeneity of Ekiti people to fast-track rapid development and growth of every sector of the state economy”.
