PHOTOS: Asefon visits pupils injured in Jos school building collapse, prays for quick recovery

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Students Engagement, Comrade Sunday Dayo Asefon, on Monday visited the hospitals where injured pupils and staff of Saints Academy, a primary and secondary school in Busa-Buji community of Jos North Local Government Area are receiving treatment.

Asefon, who was at the Plateau Specialist Hospital, Jos; Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos and Our Lady of Apostles Hospital, Jos with President Bola Tinubu’s message of hope for the injured pupils and staff, prayed for their quick recovery.

The presidential aide, who thanked God for their survival, however, prayed for the repose of the souls of the pupils who died in the building collapse on Friday.

Asefon had intimate discussions with the state Commissioner for Secondary Education and as well the Chief Medical Directors of the hospitals where the pupils were receiving treatment.

He also visited the affected school for assessment.

The presidential aide had, in a statement on Saturday, described the incident as a ‘profound tragedy’.

Asefon had stated, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of 22 lives and injuries of 132 students and staff of Saints Academy, a secondary and primary school, Busa-Buji, Jos in the school building collapse. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

“The loss of these young lives is a profound tragedy that touches us all. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the injured and the entire community as you navigate through this period of immense sorrow. As we pray for quick recovery of the injured ones, we stand with you in grief and solidarity,” Asefon had stated.
