Abiodun, Oyebanji, Aiyedatiwa celebrate APC candidate, Okpebholo, for victory in Edo

Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun State), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) and Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo) on Monday congratulated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his victory in Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State.

Okpebholo polled 291,667 votes to beat his closest opponent, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 247,274 votes in the September 21 governorship election results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday evening.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Monday Okpebholo, following victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

He said the peaceful conduct of the election reaffirmed that Nigeria’s democracy is maturing and evolving.

Abiodun, in a congratulatory message to Okpebholo, the APC, and President Ahmed Tinubu, conveyed by his Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran, praised the Independent National Electoral Commission for its commendable efforts in ensuring a free and fair electoral process, highlighting the transparency and credibility of the elections.

Prince Abiodun, in the statement, described the election as free and fair.

“Such a commitment to democratic principles is a testament to INEC’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and fostering trust in the electoral system,” Prince Abiodun said.

The governor commended the Edo people for their active participation in the electoral process, underscoring that their voices have been heard loud and clear.

“This election not only reflects their wishes but also signifies a collective stride towards more vibrant and accountable governance,” he added.

Prince Abiodun commended the leadership of the APC for running an issues-based campaign during the electioneering process, which paved the way for the resounding victory recorded by the party.

Abiodun also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and vision, which have been instrumental in guiding the APC to this victory.

He noted that under Tinubu’s stewardship, the party has been waxing stronger, even as he reiterated his belief in the progress of Nigeria’s democracy and the pivotal role of President Tinubu in shaping a brighter future for the nation.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated Senator Okpebholo of the APC on his emergence as the winner of the just concluded governorship election in Edo State.

Oyebanji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, in Ado Ekiti on Monday, hailed the people of Edo State for reposing confidence in the APC and its Renewed Hope Agenda and rewarding the party with Okpebholo’s victory.

The governor who stated that Edo people have spoken through the ballot, congratulated President Bola Tinubu for deepening democracy in the country.

He said, “The victory is a vote of confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu who has deepened our democracy. It is victory of our party APC and indeed victory for democracy.

“It is a new day in Edo State and I congratulate the people of the state for returning the state to the progressives fold”, Oyebanji said.

The governor commended the INEC for ensuring that the people’s votes count, stressing that “democracy is taking a firm root in the country, with the electorate being able to reward political parties and candidates, appropriately with their votes”.

He called on the governor-elect and the deputy governor-elect, Dennis Idahosa, to be magnanimous in victory and extend hands of fellowship to their opponents in the election.

Oyebanji also urged the governor- elect to see his election as a call to serve, urging him to implement people-oriented programmes and policies that would bring progress and prosperity to the people.

Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) on a hard fought but well deserved victory recorded in Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State.

The governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, also congratulated the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Okpebholo and his running mate, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, on their emergence as governor-elect and deputy governor-elect of Edo State.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was the Chairman of the Election Planning and Strategy Committee of the APC in the Edo election, thanked the good people of Edo State for entrusting the governance of the state into the hands of the APC.

He said: “I want to congratulate our party, the APC, Senator Okpebholo and Hon. Idahosa on the well deserved victory in the just concluded governorship election in Edo State.

“I join millions of our party faithful to give glory to God for granting us a peaceful victory to reclaim Edo back into the fold of the progressives where is clearly belongs.

“I thank Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for providing the exemplary leadership that guaranteed a free, fair and peaceful election in Edo and I also congratulate him on the success of the party in the contest.

“I commend our party’s leadership headed by the National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as the national and state campaign committees of the party for the efforts they put in to achieve the much needed victory.”

The governor, who commended the peaceful conduct of the people of Edo before, during and after the election, expressed confidence in the vision of Senator Okpebholo to change the face of governance in the state by implementing progressive policies and programmes that will make positive impacts on the lives of Edo people.
