THE Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti Alumni Association, has rejoiced with the institution’s rector, Dr Temitope Alake, for the 2025 National Award of Excellence which will be bestowed on the school by the Forum of Nigeria Polytechnics Alumni Associations (FONPAA) in Abuja on Monday, 28th April.
The institution’s Alumni National President, Dr Oyedokun Abiodun, also congratulated the staff and students of the Federal Polytechnic for the feat.
Abiodun, in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, felicitated the rector on the award for the institution and hailed him for his support to welfare of students and staff, sports development and significant contributions to polytechnic education in the country.
FONPAA had in a statement by its National President, Abba Adamu, and National Secretary, Nze Nnebe, conveyed approval for conferment of the award on Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti “in accordance with our policy of protecting and projecting polytechnic education”.
Adamu and Nnebe, while outlining reasons for the award, stated, “With reference to the just concluded 28th Edition of Nigeria Polytechnics Games, we sincerely commend the sterling performance of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Team to the sports meet, tagged İJAKADI OFFA 2024 where you emerged as the overall Champion”.
The forum had stated that the award would be bestowed on FPA in Abuja on Monday during FONPAA’s inaugural Public Lecture, titled, ‘Tertiary education in Nigeria: A comparative analysis of funding, policies and reforms in a non-democratic and a democratic eras’ to be delivered by a former governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Seriake Dickson.
Abiodun, while congratulating Alake on the honour for the institution, said, “This well-deserved recognition is a testament to your exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the progress and development of the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti and the broader polytechnic education landscape in Nigeria.
“Our alma mater’s remarkable achievement as the overall winner of the recent NIPOGA Games hosted by the Federal Polytechnic Offa speaks volumes about your administration’s dedication to fostering a holistic environment that champions not only academic excellence, but also sporting prowess and the overall well-being of students and staff.
“We, the alumni of the FPA, are particularly proud of your groundbreaking achievements as the first alumnus Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic chairman and the second alumnus to serve as the substantive Rector of our alma mater.
“Your journey and accomplishments serve as an inspiration to us all. The vote of confidence passed by the alumni and the 12th Governing Council is a clear indication of the profound impact of your good administration, your steadfast support for sports and the welfare of our staff and students, and your significant contributions to polytechnic education in Nigeria, a legacy that began during your impactful tenure as ASUP chairman,” Abiodun said.
