ANA holds colloquium to celebrate Niyi Osundare on birthday

* Oyebanji, Fayemi, Olanipekun, Lakemfa, Ojudu, Ayodele to grace event

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Ekiti State Chapter has announced collaboration with Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti for the Second yearly Niyi Osundare Colloquium to celebrate literature and arts.

ANA Ekiti State Public Relations Officer, Dr Wole Balogun, said that the event with the theme, “The Role of the Writer in a Society in Need of Social Re-engineering” slated for March 12, 2025, would be hosted by EKSU management led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Babatola Ayodele.

Balogun said in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Thursday that “Osundare is a world- renowned poet, writer, essayist, scholar and public intellectual who hails from lkere-Ekiti, in Ekiti State, (South West) Nigeria.

“The Annual Niyi Osundare Colloquium is a yearly celebration of literature, art and culture organized by Ekiti ANA to honour the literary icon in recognition of his immense contributions to literature, art and literary activism. The programme holds on March 12, which is Prof. Osundare ‘s birthday anniversary.

“Ekiti ANA is collaborating with the management of the EKSU under the able leadership of Prof. Ayodele to host this year’s edition of the Niyi Osundare Colloquium”.

Balogun stated that activities for the event included colloquium lecture to be delivered by “a renowned scholar, pharmacist and writer, Prof Adebayo Lamikanra; dance performance by Ekiti State Cultural Troupe; drama and book reading by students of EKSU, Bamidele Olumilua University of Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti and Federal University Oye Ekiti; and as well readings of some works by Prof. Osundare by members of Ekiti ANA”

“The august occasion will be chaired eminently by the legal luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, who equally hails from the legendary town, lkere-Ekiti.

“The chief host of the event is the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji; Father of the Day is Senator Babafemi Ojudu, while the Mother of the Day is former First Lady of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Fayemi.

“The programme will be hosted by the VC, EKSU, Prof. Ayodele, at the Main Auditorium of the University,” Balogun stated.
