Doctors in Ekiti State on Sunday congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his first year in office.
The doctors, under the aegis of Nigerian Medical Association, Ekiti State Branch, who said that Oyebanji had redefined governance in the state, said, “Judging by the events of this first year in office, we are convinced that Ekiti is in safe hands and no matter the challenges ahead, we will overcome”.
NMA State Chairman, Dr Babatunde O. Rosiji and Secretary, Dr Moses B. Dada, specifically hailed the governor for his “dogged determination to fix the many problems bedeviling the health sector in our dear State”.
In a statement titled, ‘One year in office, Ekiti NMA congratulates Governor Biodun Oyebanji’, Rosiji and Dada stated, “You have shown a rare commitment and sincerity to the welfare of health workers in the State and this has helped slow the pace of brain drain in our State.
“While we appreciate the challenge of brain drain as an international phenomenon, your approach in the State has helped to dampen the effect and prevent a total collapse of our health systems.
“Your recent approval of pay parity for clinical workers in the Hospitals’ Management Board among many others such as the payment of the new hazard allowance and MRTF are very positive steps which have helped bring some stability to our health systems in the State.
“We are assured that your committed approach will bring us to the desired place as we strive to get better.
“We wish to congratulate you on behalf of all members of the on your first anniversary as the Governor of Ekiti State.
“Without any iota of doubt, you have redefined the word governance in our dear State. Your achievements are visible in all sectors across the State.
“Your style of governance which is characterized by humility, astute administration of resources, and penchant for accountability has restored the hope of Ekiti people in government.
“Our Association will continually partner with your government to ensure a more robust and stable health sector.
“We call on all citizens of the State to attend to their health and optimally utilize the facilities provided by the Government at health facilities across the State.
“May God continually prosper our dear Governor and our dear State.
“Accept the assurances of our best regards and congratulations again,” the NMA leaders stated.
