*Commissions over 20 legacy projects of Prof. Fasina’s administration
* Honours five prominent Nigerians

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), is set to hold her 9th Convocation ceremonies from February 17, 2025. The University will also garland five prominent and distinguished Nigerians with Honorary Doctorate degrees, honoris causa, as part of the ceremonies.
According to the statement from the chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee, Prof. Bolanle Tajudeen Opoola, the august occasion is planned to be a weeklong event featuring the Vice-Chancellor’s press conference, scheduled to hold on February 17, 2025 at 1pm inside the Council chamber of the University.
The same day, the commissioning of legacy projects already put in place by the Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina ‘s led administration, shall commence at Oye-Ekiti Campus. These include1000 seating capacity auditorium, Prof. Abayomi S. Fasina Conference Centre, 3-in-1 Faculty of Science Laboratory, New CBT Centre at Phase III, Professorial Office complex, School of Postgraduate Studies Complex, Faculty of Education Building, Faculty of Law Complex, Innovation Hub and Sport Complex Pavilion.
On Tuesday, February 18, the University’s usual community service in form of free healthcare services to residents of her host communities, will kickstart at the palace of the Oloye of Oye-Ekiti. This will continue on Wednesday 19, from 11am. The free healthcare will equally commence on the same day in lkole-Ekiti from 2pm at the palace of the Elekole of Ikole Ekiti.
Commissioning of legacy projects will also continue at the lkole-Ekiti Campus of the University and Institute of Part Time Studies, Ayedun Ekiti. Legacy projects such as the Ultra-Modern Laboratory, two new 200-capacity modern lecture halls, JAMB CBT Standard capacity hall, Sports complex, Professorial Building – Faculty of Agriculture, 250-Seater Lecture Theatre, 3 in 1 1000-capacity Faculty of Agriculture Science Laboratory, and two blocks of two classrooms donated by MHR Akintunde Rotimi, will be commissioned.
The Induction of Engineering students, holding at the Faculty of Engineering Lecture hall on lkole Campus of the University is also planned for Wednesday, February 19, at 3.00 pm.
Thursday, February 20, features the Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Awards of Excellence Ceremony, which is scheduled to start from 3pm. The ceremony features Personality Meritorious Awards, Edutainment and N100 billion Endowment Fund Raising. It will hold at the Faculty of Science Lecture Hall. Same day at 2pm.
Students of the Department of Theatre and Media Arts, will present the Command Performance of the Convocation ceremony at the TMA Complex. The performance will undoubtedly and as usual, thrill the audience and present messages needed for the growth and development of the nation.
Friday, February 21st, is planned for the award of Bachelor’s degrees, Diploma and Prizes for outstanding graduands. It will hold at the 1000-Seating Capacity Auditorium on Oye-Ekiti Campus. There will also be a special Jummah Service to be held at the University Mosque on the same day.
The Convocation Grand finale holds on Saturday, February 22nd, starting from 11:00 a.m at the 1000-Seating Capacity Auditorium, Oye Campus. lt features a Convocation Lecture, to be delivered by the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Arch. Sonny Echono, award of First Degrees for graduands of Faculty of Science and Faculty of Education, Award of Postgraduate Diplomas and postgraduate Degrees and as well Conferment of Honorary Degrees on five distinguished Nigerians.
Recipients of the honorary Doctorate degrees are Layal-Oluseyi Tinubu; Senator Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN; Chief Christopher Adebayo, SAN; Allen Onyema, Founder and CEO, Air Peace Airline; and Mr Olusegun Alebiosu, MD, First Bank, Plc.
On Sunday, February, 23rd, a Thanksgiving Service at the University Chapel will be held to conclude the Convocation ceremonies.
