Hardship: Ekiti monarch effects reduction of food prices in community

The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, HRM, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, AFUNTADE 1, has directed all market women and men in his domain to reduce the astronomic prices of food and other items in markets in the community.

Oba Alabi ordered that everyone in the community must cooperate to bring the soaring prices of all food items down.

A statement by the media adviser to the traditional ruler, High Chief Ajibade Olubunmi stated that the Alawe’s move was to ensure common people could have access to food items.

The monarch also directed traders to use the acceptable measurement to sell gari, rice, beans, plantain flour and others.

Oba Alabi also directed Market committee of the Alawe-in-Council to routinely monitor market prices in all markets in the town.

Members of the Alawe-in-Council, women chiefs including the Iyaloja and the Iyalaje were at the Central Market, popularly known as Oja Oba, on Wednesday, 27th March, to monitor the marketmen and women’s compliance.

Some of the buyers, who bought low priced food items during the tour the chiefs hailed the Monarch for the ingenuity in the interest of the people particularly the masses.
