I’m in politics for service, to better of our people’s lives – Ekiti community leader

By John Odunjo

A community leader and former member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Segun Erinle, has said that his mind is always on how to improve the economy of his community, Ewu Ekiti, Ilejemeje Local Government area and Ekiti State as a whole to make life easy for the people.

Erinle, an All Progressives Congress chieftain, says he is in negotiations with some well-meaning Ewu indigenes and investors from abroad to site garri and palm oil factories in Ewu community.

The effort, he said was with the target to make garri and palm oil production easy, thus encouraging farming, boosting the economies of the people in the local government and as well creating massive jobs for our youths.

The APC chieftain made the disclosure at a programme where he distributed palliatives comprising cash and food item (semovita) to elders and senior citizens in Ewu Ekiti.

Erinle, who thanked the elders and senior citizens for standing by APC, urged them to continue to support the party.

He also urged them to continue to pray for the Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his team.

He said, “I understand the plight of the elderly in view of the current situation in Nigeria and all over the world hence this intervention at this time. I will strive to continue to support you.

“I want you to ignore the rumour in town that I was not given appointment by the governor because there is rift in the leadership of Ilejemeje. This is not true.

“It is not possible for governor to appoint everybody to positions in his government as positions are limited. But that should not stop leaders from assisting people particularly the elders and promoting the interest of the party. I will always be there for you.

“My style of politics is different because you, our elders and voters, are people l take as boss. I am never in politics for selfish interest, but to serve our people and make the community a better place than l met it.

“Recently, l represented my brother and Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives), Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju, at an empowerment programme where about 150 people drawn from our Federal Constituency were empowered. This is the type of politics l believe in. I believe in service to the people.

“Be rest assured that I will continue to do things that will better the lives of our people including the elders and senior citizens,” he said.

Erinle said that the building of a Corpers Lodge which he facilitated to Ewu Ekiti, that was commissioned recently was to reduce the housing problems of the corps members posted to the community.
