“The last one year has been remarkable for unprecedented achievements in all sectors of the state economy. Aiyedatiwa has demonstrated great leadership, vision, competence and capacity to take the state to greater heights”
THE ONDO STATE Commissioner for Information, Wale Akinlosotu, has hailed the people of Ondo State for the good governance and unprecedented developments and transformation that the state has witnessed in the last one year under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Akinlosotu, who said the people of the state had greatly benefitted from the continuity of the gainful All Progressives Congress programmes and policies which the Aiyedatiwa administration represented coupled with the results of the novelty, innovations and initiatives that Aiyedatiwa brought into governance in the last one year.
The commissioner spoke in a statement on the one year in office of Governor Aiyedatiwa made available in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Sunday.
Aiyedatiwa, a former deputy governor, was sworn in as Ondo State governor on December 27, 2023 following the death of the former governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu.
The Commissioner, who said the last one year has been remarkable for unprecedented achievements in all sectors of the state economy, lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for the great leadership, vision, competence and capacity, which he has been demonstrating to take the state to greater heights.
He said, “When we look at what Governor Aiyedatiwa has achieved under 365 days, we marvel and cannot but give kudos to the transformational leader that we have in him. Ondo State, no doubt, has continued to soar under him in the last one year.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa has demonstrated unrivalled passion for the welfare of the people of Ondo State. This is reflected in the welfare packages for government workers at all levels and pensioners. Aiyedatiwa has paid the backlogs of allowances, salaries, pensions and gratuities which his administration inherited. He has since assumption of office been paying especial attention to the welfare needs of youths, students, artisans and private sector workers in the state”.
Akinlosotu said that the last one year witnessed a marked difference as far as investment in human capital development was concerned in Ondo State, adding, “Governor Aiyedatiwa prioritises education, hence the infrastructures and physical development witnessed at all tiers of education in the state.
“Teachers are employed and motivated for optimal performance. Necessary instructional materials are being provided just as the Aiyedatiwa government encouraged tertiary institutions students with bursaries and scholarships.
“Workers across ministries, departments and agencies are being trained and retrained for efficient service delivery.
“The governor, ever persuaded that health is wealth, has intervened in the health sector through improving the health facilities, retooling the system and making the environment conducive and suitable for healthcare delivery, thus discouraging exodus of medical workers from health facilities in the state”.
The commissioner praised the creative manner that Governor Ayedatiwa approached the agricultural sector with a view to ensure food availability in the state, saying that “as it is, Ondo State has taken concrete steps including supporting farmers with land cultivation and farm inputs to redress the food scarcity that the country faced in the year and the state is positioned, with various agric interventions, to feed itself and neighbours in the incoming year”.
Akinlosotu added that the governor has in the last one year focused on the infrastructures development including construction and rehabilitation of roads across the state and various transformation projects in the riverine areas.
He said that the good roads coming up in the rural areas and Urban areas of the state are targeted at boosting food production and ensuring access to markets; and enhancing movement of persons and goods and services.
The commissioner said that “these, coupled with other utility infrastructures such as enhanced water provision, improved power supply situation and communication networks are attracting investments to the state in the bid to transform Ondo State from a civil service state to an industrialised one”.
Akinlosotu said that the development that Ondo State has witnessed under Governor Aiyedatiwa in the last one year is a tip of the iceberg as the completion of the ongoing projects of his administration and translation of his 2023 electoral promises to action which have already begun would take the state to eldorado.
