* Cautions motorists, commuters on safety

Ekiti State Government has assured road users and communities where raod construction and rehabilitation works are ongoing of timely completion of the projects.
The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said work would soon commence on other roads needing construction or reconstruction as the governor, Biodun Oyebanji, was committed to good roads to drive investment and prosperity.
Olatunbosun, consequently, advised motorists and commuters to exercise caution to avert avoidable accidents or undue hindrances at the roads undergoing construction in the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said caution necessary for the people’s safety, and prevent possible injury and needless loss of lives and manhours”.
Olatunbosun, in a statement in Ado Ekiti listed roads undergoing rehabilitation in the state at present to include Oye – Iye – Ikun – Otun – Dairy Farm Road, Ado – Iworoko – Road, Ikole township Road, Itapa- Ijelu- Omu Road, Moferere-Agric Olope – Odo Ado, Ilawe – Erijiyan road and the Hospital Management road in Ado-Ekiti.
Others undergoing reconstruction include Igbara Odo – Ikogosi Road, Iloro -Ijurin -Temidire – Ayegunle road and the failed culvert on Igede – Ilawe Road as well as the Igbara Odo – Ikogosi Road.
The commissioner said that the state government is as well undertaking fresh construction of the Omisanjana –Sije – Deeper Life – Ajebandele Road, the GRA 3rd Extension Road and the Okeoro – Ilokun – Ipoti Road.
Olatunbosun disclosed that another 12 rural roads would also be rehabilitated under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project as part of interventions to make community roads accessible.

He urged motorists to obey traffic rules in the roads, saying, “Measures put in place to control traffic are in the interest of public. The state government will leave no stone unturned towards ensuring that the projects are completed within the stipulated period”.
The commissioner, who reiterated the administration’s commitment to meaningful policies and projects that have positive impact on the lives of the people, said that the two laws recently signed by Governor Biodun Oyebanji were targeted at ensuring proper maintenance and rehabilitation of deplorable roads.
He said, “The two laws, Ekiti State Rural Access Roads Authority Bill (2023) and Ekiti State Roads Funds bill (2023), were enacted because of their potentials to have positive impact on people in the State, especially on farmers who would have access to good roads to transport farm produce.”
He warned that indiscriminate dumping of refuse in gutters and waterways as well as the construction of unauthorized speed-breakers could lead to flooding and rapid destruction of the roads.
