A huge crowd of stakeholders and admirers of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, in Ekiti North Senatorial District on Thursday gathered at Otun Ekiti, headquarters of Moba Local Government area, for a Town Hall Meeting and Citizens’ Engagement to list their demands for inclusion into the state budget for 2026.

Traditional rulers from across the five local government areas in the Senatorial District were in attendance at the event where the Oore of Otun Ekiti, Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Ekiti State and the Southwest Coordinator, National Council of Traditional Rulers, His Majesty, Oba Dr Adekunle Adeagbo, played host.

Governor Oyebanji; his deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye; and the Chief of Staff, Niyi Adebayo were at the event which was also graced by top government functionaries from the senatorial district and some key officials from others.

The citizens’ engagement programme is part of efforts to get the residents’ input into the 2026 budget in the governor’s demonstration of inclusive and participatory governance.

The local government areas and communities, through their representatives, appreciated the governor for executing the projects which they requested during the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions of the Town Hall meeting and Citizens Engagement.

They requested for their specific needs which they wanted included in the 2026 budget and executed next year.

For Mobaland, the request of the people included provision of 500kva transformers for different Moba communities, provision of solar lights and construction of inner roads within their 13 ancient communities comprising Mobaland.

thanked Governor Oyebanji and prayed for his victory in the October 27 APC primary and June 20, 2026 governorship election, saying, “We are waiting for you in Moba for next year’s town hall meeting during your second term by the grace of God Almighty”.

The governor expressed appreciation to the 13 royal fathers in Mobaland.

Oyebanji also thanked the Paramount Ruler, the Oore, for his untiring efforts in bringing peace, and unity and ensuring religious tolerance in Mobaland.

The governor, who said that he would study all the requests from the different communities and five local government areas, Moba inclusive, assured that he would ensure that the critical ones would be incorporated into the 2026 budget.

He assured the people of improved security.

Oyebanji promised better welfare package for traditional rulers and to look into requests for more befitting places, resuscitation of the construction of five kilometers road in each local government areas yearly.

He emphasized the need for the people of the state to maintain peace to witness more development and transformation in the coming year.

The governor attributed the success recorded by his administration and development witnessed in the state to the cooperation and support he had enjoyed with all federal lawmakers for Ekiti and members of the state House of Assembly who he said shared the same vision to lift Ekiti to higher heights with him.

He said that work was ongoing on 435 kilometers of rural road projects which would be extended to cover 500 kilometers because of their strategic importance to evacuation of farm produce and provision of amenities in rural areas assuring that his administration is looking at embarking on another batch of rural roads next year.

The governor said, “There is no community in Ekiti State that has not felt our impact. And as we are doing our own, our National Assembly members are doing their own. I want to appreciate the National Assembly members from the senatorial district for what they have done for the people in all the local government areas in this district and their efforts have complemented what our administration has done in the state.

Oyebanji urged his supporters to maintain peace, assuring that the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti would be peaceful and conducted without any bloodshed.
