(PHOTOS) When EKSU honoured Oyebanji, other distinguished alumni

The venue was the Rock view Hotel Royale, Abuja on Sunday when Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, treated its proud products, friends and benefactors to a grand reception.

The event tagged, “Grand Reception for our Distinguished Alumni, Benefactors and Friends was organized by the Management of the university.

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, was among the alumni honoured at the event.

Oyebanji had recently approved an increase in the subvention to the university and other state-owned tertiary institutions to surmount some of the challenges being faced by the institutions, especially EKSU.

The governor has also directed that the university campus be connected to the state’s Independent Power Plant as a way of solving its lingering electricity problem in addition to other contributions he has made to the institution.

Other selected alumni who have distinguished themselves in their chosen professions and who have contributions immensely to the growth of the institution were also honoured on the occasion.

Those honored alongside the Governor included the First Lady of the state, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji; Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; the Global President of the Alumni Association, Engineer Dipo Bamisaiye; Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adeoye Aribasoye, among others.

The event has in attendance top shots from Ekiti State Government, Ekiti State Caucus in the National Assembly, EKSU and the alumni association led by the Global Executive Committee.

Ekiti Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, noted the Oyebanji government’s strides in addressing various challenges confronting the institution, including financial constraints, provision of alternative power supply through IPP, and internal road construction.

The awardees expressed their delight at the recognition bestowed upon them and pledged to redouble their efforts, with Senator Bamidele emphasizing a commitment of N1billion towards a constituency project aimed at enhancing the university’s infrastructure and overall educational facilities.
