“And it SHALL come to pass, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of the Lord will carry you to a place I do not know; so when I go and tell Ahab, and he cannot find you, he will kill me. But I your servant have feared the Lord from my youth.”
I Kings 18:12 NKJV
In recent times, there has been a revival of interest in the prophetic ministry. However, many people have their theology about it skewed.
Many like to think that for something to be prophetic, it has to be weird.
They forget that the Spirit of God is that of order and not confusion.
Those who think that the Spirit’s manifestations must always be wild and weird are in the same frame of mind as Obadiah and the sons of the prophets.
He demonstrated his incomplete knowledge of this subject when Elijah asked him to go and inform Ahab of his presence.
He saw that as a suicide mission. He figured that out and before he would have finished informing the king about his presence, the Spirit of God would ferry Elijah away. That would make him look like teasing the king and endanger his life.
The sons of the prophet in 2 Kings 2 belonged to this tribe as well.
After Elijah had been translated to heaven, they thought the Spirit may have cast him to some remote place on the mountain. “And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.” (2 Kings 2:16).
If you think it has to be bizarre before it can be traced to the Spirit of God, you need to be reminded that a dove is used as one of the many symbols of the Holy Spirit. Church meetings can run without any hysteria even when the Spirit is heavily present.
Those who always seek for the thunders and the fires will likely miss out of the still small voice of God.

Prayer: Lord, help me not to lose the significant things in the name of spectacular things.
