When Ekiti community adopted Mexican Ifa priest as son

It was an unbelievable sight and indescribable feeling for those who witnessed the visit of a Mexican, who goes by a Yoruba name, Omowale Ifamosun, to the palace of the Oore of Otun Ekiti, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo.

The date was October 4, 2023 and the location was the palace where Oba Adeagbo played host to the Mexican, who is the Oluwo Yoruba of Mexico, who was on a visit to pay homage to the Oore.

The Mexican’s vast understanding of Yoruba language and mastery of Odu Ifa held everybody in awe.

Ifamosun, who is an Ifa practitioner in Mexico and as well the Oluwo Yoruba of Mexico, has disclosed that he would be coming back to Otun Ekiti for the community’s Ifa Aba Festival on the 28th October, 2023.

Oba Adeagbo said, “We have accepted him as our son in Otun Moba and we hope to have cultural exchanges between Otun Ekiti and Mexico in the near future.

“We plan to celebrate our Yoruba culture together as this cherished Mexican speaks Yoruba fluently and recites ‘Odu Ifa’ fluently. He will practice this at our IFA ABA festival 2023”.

The Oore said that this year’s Ifa Aba Festival would be yet another exciting moment.
