@ 60: Oba Matemilola a rare gem, role model – BOILING POINT

The Boiling Point Group has congratulated one of Nigeria’s foremost traditional rulers, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola, on the milestone occasion of his 60th birthday.

The group, in a congratulatory letter to the monarch signed by the Initiator/Founder of Boiling Point, Dr Ayo Arowojolu, described Oba Matemilola as “a rare gem, role model and a patriotic Nigerian who genuinely loves the country”.

Arowojolu lauded the royal father’s “unwavering passion, uncommon wisdom and generous spirit that have touched the lives of countless numbers of his subjects”.

Oba Matemilola is Chairman, Council of Royals and Elders of the Boiling Point Group, which on a monthly basis organizes a global online discourse on governance and national development.

The Boiling Point Arena series, which is eyeing its 22nd edition come next Sunday August 11, 2024, has fostered informed discussions, viewpoints and commentaries on important national development issues as well as created valuable space for dialogue, debate and learning.

Arowojolu said, “On behalf of Boiling Point Group, I extend our warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations to you, our revered king, on the occasion of your birthday. It is indeed an honour to celebrate with a personality who has made remarkable impact in various fields of endeavour.

“As Kabiyesi celebrates this milestone age, we wish you more grace, joy and peace.

“More importantly, we also convey our congratulations on your eventful two years anniversary on the throne of your forefathers. May God continue to bless you, keep you in good health and grant Kabiyesi all your heart desires”.

Oba Matemilola, whose turf was hitherto in the academia especially in the petroleum engineering field, ascended the enviable throne of Olowu of Owu Kingdom on 27th July, 2022 while his Staff of Office was handed over to him by the Ogun State Governor in October that same year.

Born on August 4, 1964, Oba Matemilola is of the Otileta Ruling House, a dynasty known for its significant role in Owu Kingdom.

The monarch completed his primary education at the St Patrick’s School in Lagos State, following which he proceeded to Abeokuta Grammar School. The University of Ibadan was his next port of call to study Mechanical Engineering, graduating with First Class honours.

Oba Matemilola subsequently earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution after which he proceeded to the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, bagging a PhD in Applied Mechanics.
