The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Ekiti State Chapter has announced its presence and drive in Ekiti State with the inauguration of its pioneer executives.
The executives are Hon. Dare Adekolu (State Chairman), Chief Moses Awogbemi (State Deputy Chairman), Barrister Adefisayo Martins Esq (State Secretary), Pastor Ade Ogunkolade (State Treasurer) and Chief Sam Abiola (State Organising Secretary).
They include Hon Oluwole Fagboro (State Publicity Secretary), Dr Jacob Akinola (State Financial Secretary), Mrs Abiodun Nikoro (Assistant State Secretary) and High Chief (Barrister) B.T Oluwole Esq (Legal Services).
The state chairman, Adekolu, who spoke in Ado Ekiti on Friday after the inauguration, said it would no longer be business as usual in politics and governance in Ekiti State with the arrival of CUPP, adding that the body is desirous of a developed, industrialised and prosperous Ekiti State which future generations will be proud of.
Adekolu said that CUPP, a coalition of seasoned politicians in the state would be strong on “voters’ education, awareness creation advocacy for good governance at all levels and promotion of alliance of opposition parties for electoral victory”
The CUPP State Chairman, who said the body of opposition party members would soon make public its verdict on the performance of the Biodun Oyebanji government, however, cautioned the governor to be wary of the series of endorsements of his administration.
He said, “People have rights to their opinions, but the governor should be cautious of the fact that he has just finished his first half and that the second half of any game is a strong determining factor. On the part of the CUPP in Ekiti State, we will take legitimate steps to review the performance of the Oyebanji administration in the last two years and relay to the public soon.
“Our strong desire is to see an industrialized Ekiti, a state where lives and property are safe, a state with infrastructural development, food security/improved health facilities and corrupt-free governance. With these, we can be sure of a prosperous Ekiti that our future generation will be proud of and posterity will judge us well,” Adekolu said.
He pledged his loyalty to the course of the group, describing it as “the opposition voice of political players in Ekiti State comprising political actors either former or present state chairmen/state working committee members of defunct or current political parties or other pressure groups within the state”.
