The new governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has been sworn in as the fifth elected governor of the state.
He took over from Yahaya Bello who has completed his second term in office.
His inauguration came just minutes after Salifu Joel Oyibo took his oath of office as the deputy governor of Kogi State.
The event had in attendance the Vice President, Kashim Shettima; the Ododo’s predecessor, Yahaya Bello: APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje and other top members of the party.
Ododo, who said that politics of bitterness is over, pledged that under his leadership, Kogi State would become one of the sub national pilots for key drivers of the Federal Governments programmes in food security, poverty eradication, job creation, access to capital, inclusion of rule of law, the fight against corruption and overall economic growth which will have a local adaptation to the realities of Kogi State.
The governor, however, in an unprecedented decision, nominated members of his cabinet and other top aides on his first day in office.
Ododo announced the nomination of some commissioners to be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for prompt confirmation as members of the State Executive Council (SEC) during his inaugural speech to the people of the State.
The commissioner-nominees were majorly members of the immediate-past administration of Governor Yahaya Bello. They include the former SSG, Folashade Ayoade Arike; Kingley Fanwo; Deedat Salami Ozigi; among other aides appointed with immediate effect.
