FORMER students of Surveying and Geoinformatics Department (S&G Dept) of Federal Polytechnics, Ado Ekiti have congratulated their former teacher, Surveyor Olayiwola Afolabi, as he clocked 81 on Sunday, 14th July, 2024.
Surv. Afolabi, who retired as a Chief Lecturer in the institution years ago, according to the former students, “has produced Professors, Chief Lecturers, Surveyor-Generals, great surveyors and many captains of industry”.
A former student, Surv. Dr Oyedokun Augustine Abiodun, stated, “Surv. Olayiwola Afolabi,fnis is a year older today. On behalf of all the students that passed through him at S&G Dept, FPA, I wish him happy birthday and more of God blessings in good health.
“All ex-students of S&G will give him a surprise package in his residence in Akure, the Ondo State capital, by 1pm today”.
Abiodun disclosed that the old students have raised N1million which cheque would be presented to their former teacher on the occasion of his 81st birthday.
Other old old students, Surv. Tunde Fakologbon,fnis; Tunde Ogunlami,fnis; Surv. Sikiru Temitope and Surv. Mathew Ogunlade strongly support the drive for this celebration.
Surveyor Olayiwola Afolabi, a native of Awe in Oyo, Oyo State, was born on 14th of July 1943.
Afolabi, a fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), was the first Head of Department of FPA S&G Dept and a former Dean.
The octogenarian is a former Chairman Nigeria Institute of Surveyors (NIS), Ekiti State Branch, and a one time Chairman, NIS Body of Fellows Ondo State.
