PHOTOS: Colour, class as high, mighty bid Oba Adeagbo’s late mother farewell

The high and mighty including traditional rulers from far and near gathered at Otun Ekiti, headquarters of Mobaland in Ekiti State on Friday to bid the HRM, Olori Janet Ara Adeagbo, the mother of the Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland final farewell.

HRM Janet Ara Adeagbo, popularly called Iya Oba, the Chairman of Kadejan Hotel, Bashorun Ibadan, died on June 22, 2024 at the age of 87 years.

Funeral activities for the late Queen Mother, began in Ibadan on Wednesday with a Wake Keep, followed by a Church Service at Winners’ Chapel, Bashorun, Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday morning before her body was moved to Otun Ekiti for Lying in State later that day.

The funeral service held on Friday preceding interment of her body at the compound of Prince S.A Adeagbo.

Dignitaries from all walks attended the different events including the grand reception which held at the Oore Palace in Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State after the dust to dust ceremony bidding the late Queen Mother final bye on Friday.

Traditional rulers were led to the grand reception by the Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori-Faboro.

It was the same situation on Saturday when eminent personalities thronged Otun Ekiti for the thanksgiving service for the late Olori Janet Ara Adeagbo.

Among dignitaries at the thanksgiving service to honour the late Queen Mother Janet Ara Adeagbo were the representatives of the Federal Government, Ekiti State Government, National Council of Traditional Rulers, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and other groups and bodies.

The roll call of dignitaries included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume was represented by the Chief of Staff to the SGF, Hon. Simon Tyungu; former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni; the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Mrs Monisade Afuye; and the Secretary to State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro.

The Oore, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, expressed appreciation to everyone that contributed to the success of the burial including the
the Governor of Ekiti State, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Ekiti State Head of Service, traditional rulers, the Oore-in-Council, the Chairman, Moba Local Government, the people of Otun Ekiti and others too numerous to mention.

The Oore prayed that the souls of the Queen Mother rests in perfect peace.
