* URGES COMMUNITY’S SUPPORT FOR VARSITY

The Chairman, Federal University Oye Ekiti Governing Council, Engr Kayode Ojo stole the show on Saturday as he put up appearance amid cheers at the 2024 edition of Oye Ekiti Day celebrations of the institution’s host community.
Ojo, a politician of note, was not alone, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Tajudeen Bolanle Opoola; the Chairman of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, FUOYE Branch, Comrade Benjamin Oluwaseun Faleye and team; and the Director, Institute of Part Studies, Dr Omolade Adeleke among others were with the Governing Council chairman.
Ojo, in his address, congratulated the Oloye of Oye Ekiti, Oba Oluwole Ademolaju and all sons and daughters of the community on a successful day celebration and successes recorded in the university town.
The VC, who hailed the community’s support to the growth of FUOYE, however, canvassed more for sustained accelerated development.
He said, “My appointment as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti is like a homecoming for me. We need to see more development at the university”.
Stressing the importance of community support for the university, Engr Ojo said, “I appeal to the sons and daughters of Oye Ekiti at home and abroad to contribute to the development of our university”.
The Council Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to elevating FUOYE to global standard as he reiterated call on the community to play active role in the university’s development.
He expressed commitment to leading FUOYE to greater achievements, stating that he would leverage his extensive experience for the advancement of the university.
