Adeleke’s wife partners Kings University on entrepreneurship as students showcase innovative works

The wife of Osun State governor, Erelu Ngozi Abeni Adeleke, has announced plan to partner with Kings University, Ode Omu to develop the University Entrepreneurship Centre.

The governor’s wife highlighted the vital role of entrepreneurship “as a pathway to economic self-reliance and self-employment, especially considering the limited availability of white-collar jobs for our graduating youth”.

Erelu Adeleke made this announcement on Tuesday during the 2024 Edition of Kings University, Entrepreneurship Day, with the theme: “Predicting the Future through Creativity”.

The governor’s wife, who was highly impressed with the students for showcasing some of their creative and innovative works from the series of trainings they received at the University Entrepreneurship Centre, promised to upgrade the Center in line with the current global practices.

Also speaking at the event, the Osun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Abiodun Bankole, urged Nigerians “to see entrepreneurship and creativity as vehicles that will allow them approach problems and challenges with a new perspective in order to find innovative and sustainable solutions”.

The Vice chancellor of the University, Prof. Adenike Kuku, in her welcome address stated that entrepreneurship education is strategic to the vision of Kings University, Ode Omu.

Prof. Kuku said, “The goal of the University is to churn out graduates that are value creators rather than job seekers so as to mitigate the high rate of unemployment in the country”.

She said, “Entrepreneurship is a key element for any country like ours that aims to be competitive in the knowledge-based global economy. Entrepreneurship education, as we all know, fosters a culture of creativity and instils problem-solving psyche that results in the development of various innovative products and services”.

The Guest Speaker, Dr Olusola Olaosebikan, who spoke on the topic, “Employability and Project Management Skill for Creative Sustainability” stated that “entrepreneurship is a major driver of economic growth, creativity and innovation”.
