* AS OBA ADEAGBO LEADS CELEBRATIONS

The Otun Ekiti Day 2024 was yet another moment of jollification and socialisation for the people of Otun Ekiti, headquarters of Moba Local Government area of Ekiti State.
People of Otun Ekiti came home from far and near to be part of the celebrations. This year’s edition was more interesting as it held on the Boxing Day, day after Christmas.
Activities for the Day celebration, which began with Unity and Prayer Walk which held on December 23, 2024 had the indigenes participated in their numbers social class not withstanding.
The Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruer of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, members of his family; the Oore-in-Council; chiefs, Otun groups led by Egbe Omo Otun; community leaders and members and as well security agencies took part in the Unity and Prayer Walk.
Among agencies that participated in the Walk are the Police, Civil Defence, Federal Road Safety Corps, Department of State, Amotekun Corps, Forest Rangers, Palace Security Guards and men of the Nigerian Army.
The Oore and Chiefs, appreciative of growth in the outgoing year and desirous of prosperity in the incoming year, offered prayers at the major junctions of the town.
They prayed and meditated that Otun Ekiti, Mobaland, Ekiti and Nigeria in general shall be great again.
Activities for the day after the Walk included award of prizes to the best Secondary School in academics which saw Seventh Day Adventist Church Grammar School, Otun Ekiti won the best prize.
The Oore supported with free JAMB forms for five students while Olori Adediwura Adeagbo presented the prizes.
Activities for the Otun Day 2024 continues with Cultural and Heritage Night which held at the Oore Palace on December 25, 2024.
The beauty of the customs, culture and tradition of the community was showcased at the Cultural and Heritage Night.
At the grand finale which held at the expansive Oore Palace Grounds on December 26, 2024, the people of the Kingdom sauntered into the venue gorgeously dressed in a display of colour and candour.
Different associations were dressed in different uniform attires depicting class and the place of the yearly Otun Ekiti Unity Day.
The Chairman of Otun Ekiti Day 2024 Celebration, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, congratulated Oba Adeagbo and the entire Otun Ekiti community on the success of the celebration and as well the unity and development which were hallmarks of the town.
Senator Fadeyi also made handsome donations to support the Seventh Day Adventist College of Nursing, Otun Ekiti and the development of Otun Ekiti in general.
Oba Adeagbo, who expressed joy over the leaps recorded by Otun Ekiti in 2024 and the foundations already laid for further developments in the incoming year, appreciated the people for supports and unity.
The frontline traditional ruler appreciated Senator Fadeyi for honouring the community with his dignified presence on the occasion, his kind words and as well his donations to the college of Nursing and development of Otun Ekiti.
The Oore wished all Otun indigenes, Ekiti people and Nigerians a prosperous New Year.
