Members of Edo Assembly have served the Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, an impeachment notice.

The lawmakers gave the Deputy Governor seven days to respond to allegations levelled against him.

Shaibu, is a former member of the House of Representatives, ex-Majority Leader of Edo Assembly and former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

Edo State Governor, l Godwin Obaseki and Shaibu, who are chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, are at loggerheads over the authentic governorship candidate of PDP in Edo.

Obaseki is supporting a Lagos-based lawyer, Asue Ighodalo, who emerged as the party’s standard bearer of the governorship indirect primary election at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, while Shaibu emerged factional candidate at a parallel primary at his official residence on Commercial Avenue in Benin.
