African Democratic Congress chieftain and governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Apostle Ayodele David Adesua, has stepped down from the race for the party’s ticket.

This is as the governorship primary election of the party holds today, Thursday.

David Adesua, who said he had aligned with a former deputy governor and another governorship aspirant, Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, urged his supporters to give their votes, energy and commitment to Olusola-Eleka.

He stated in a statement on Thursday, “In the spirit of sustaining our long-standing relationships and preserving the unity that has defined our political journey, I have taken the decision to step aside in the governorship race.

“This moment calls for wisdom, maturity, and a deep sense of responsibility to the greater good of our party and the future of Ekiti State.

“Our strength lies in our ability to create a common and formidable front, especially in the face of competing interests.

“I therefore extend a hand of alignment to all stakeholders—those who stood with me, those who differed, and those caught in between. Let us seize this moment to reconcile, rebuild bridges, and present a united force capable of delivering the leadership our people truly deserve.

“To all my followers, supporters, coordinators, and believers in our vision across the 177 wards of Ekiti State, I deeply appreciate you. I now humbly ask that you align fully with Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka and ensure your votes, energy, and commitment are counted in his favour. Together, we move with one purpose—to Rescue, Rebuild, and Rise Ekiti,” David Adesua stated.
