Ekiti State Government is set to recruit teachers into the public primary schools in the state to strengthen the basic education sector and improve learning outcomes.

This followed the approval by Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the recruitment of the teachers.

The Chairman, Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, who made the disclosure in a statement in Ado Ekiti, said “the recruitment will be based strictly on consequential vacancies arising from the retirement of teachers over the past few years.

Akinwumi urged interested and qualified applicants “to monitor official SUBEB communication channels and other government media platforms for details of the application process and timelines”.

He said that the approval by government reflected the administration’s commitment to repositioning basic education for quality service delivery across the state.

“The exercise is aimed at filling existing gaps in public primary schools to ensure adequate staffing.

“The governor’s approval is a clear demonstration of his commitment to ensuring that our primary schools are adequately staffed with qualified teachers.

“This will not only improve teaching and learning, but also guarantee that every child has access to quality basic education,” he said.

The SUBEB chairman said that the exercise aligned with the state government’s human capital development agenda and would also create employment opportunities for qualified youths in Ekiti.

He assured prospective applicants that the recruitment process would be transparent, merit-based and conducted in accordance with established guidelines.

Akinwumi said candidates would be selected based on their qualifications, competence and the needs of schools, with priority given to critical subject areas and underserved communities.

He recalled that this would be the second major recruitment of primary school teachers during Oyebanji’s first term in office, following a similar exercise at the inception of the administration.
