Hardship: NLC declares two-day nationwide protest

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress has declared a two-day nationwide mass protest for February 27 and 28, 2024, over biting economic hardship being faced by Nigerians.

NLC president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, said the protest would take place if the Federal Government failed to implement all the agreements signed with it in October 2023.

He said that the two-day national protest would take place at the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum it had earlier issued, adding that the decision was to protest the current hardship being faced by Nigerians.

Ajaero, who made the disclosure at the Labour House headquarters in Abuja on Friday, noted that Labour was no longer interested in empty talks from the government, but in actions.

He urged the government to immediately implement the agreement and restore faith in the democratic process as Nigerians were struggling to survive.

Ajaero urged NLC members to be on standby for an indefinite strike, which would commence seven days after the nationwide protest if the government still failed to meet labour demands.
