President Bola Tinubu has approved the upgrade of Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, to a Teaching Hospital.

The new federal teaching hospital will be used by the medical students of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) for their medical practicals and other health professional needs.

The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, Malam Abdulmuminu Bawa Yauri, who confirmed the upgrade, said, “The management of the hospital, led by Dr Aliyu Hamza Balarabe, has welcomed it and will throw weight behind its success as it seeks to widen the scope of healthcare services to the people of Kebbi State”.

He said, “As a federal university teaching hospital, the referral level of the hospital has been upscaled to meet the standards of a higher tertiary referral centre because already the FMC Birnin Kebbi serves as a referral tertiary level hospital.

Yauri congratulated the people of Kebbi State for the milestone development and reaffirmed the resolve of the now-federal university teaching hospital management of continued support and diligent discharge of official duties.
