President Bola Tinubu will address Nigerians on Monday morning, being New Year’s Day.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement on Sunday evening, said, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will make a New Year’s Day broadcast to the nation on Monday, January 1, 2024, at 7 am.

“Television, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigeria Television Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for the broadcast,” Ngelale said.

However, the National President of Campaign for Democracy, Rev. Ifeanyi Odili, who welcomed the expected address, said it would put smiles on Nigerians’ faces if it met their expectations.

Odili said, “What can excite Nigerians in the New Year address are the policies that will bring down the price of fuel. The palliatives should be cancelled, they are meaningless and have nothing to do in the lives of Nigerians.

“One thing that President Tinubu will say that will make Nigerians to be elated after the broadcast is reduction in fuel price because fuel price determines the price of everything in this country. It is a new government, reduction in fuel price is a major thing for now that will excite Nigerians.

“Again, policies that will make dollar to come down because he promised Nigerians during electioneering that the moment he got there, that the exchange rate of dollar will come down.

“Somebody I know that just returned from US paid almost N4million for flight because a dollar is N1,250. Policies that will bring dollar down will excite Nigerians’ as well.

“These are what Nigerians are expecting,” Odili said.
