I’m next governor of Ondo – Agboola Ajayi

By John Odunayo

Former Deputy Governor of Ondo State and the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November governorship election, Hon Agboola Ajayi, has said that talks over his eligibility for the topmost seat in the state is a mere distraction.

Ajayi, a former member of House of Representatives, who saye there is no controversy over his eligibility for the position of the governor of the state, expresses confidence that he will be elected next occupier of Alagbaka Government House in November.

He spoke in reaction to a statement credited to a group, “Committee for Good Governance,” describing their statement as “a mere distraction by some clowns, an attempt too late in time, to question my eligibility to serve my people.”

A statement by the spokesman of Agboola Ajayi’s campaign organisation, Samuel Ogunmusi, said, “The attention of the campaign organisation has just been drawn to a reckless but uninformed attempt by an obscure group to create unnecessary drama, where there is no basis for one.

“Agboola Ajayi, irrespective of who may have been sulking, is the PDP candidate for the coming election and the next governor of our dear state by the grace of God.

“Those who decided to embark on the fruitless image bashing voyage, should have realised before now, that the PDP, which maintains its standard, as the most democratic institution in the country has a perfect screening apparatus that does not allow for the fielding of unqualified candidates for election.

“The self-acclaimed group should have taken proper briefing from its sponsors to know that someone who has been contesting elections at various levels successfully, cannot at this point be distracted by a fake and unfounded allegation of certificate irregularity,” the campaign team said.
