Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has hailed the removal by President Bola Tinubu of Mele Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Corporation Limited.

Fayose urged the President to extend the gesture to other rotten sectors.

Fayose stated on his verified X handle that “removal of the NNPCL CEO, Mele Kyari, is a welcome development. It is the smartest move ever by President Tinubu”.

President Tinubu had on Wednesday morning removed Kyari as the NNPCL GCEO and replaced him with Bashir Ojulari, with the charge to, among others, enhance operational efficiency, restore investor confidence, boost local content, drive economic growth, and advance gas commercialisation and diversification.

Fayose said, “It is hoped that this will bring a better lease of life to the NNPCL in particular and Nigerians in general.

“This same courage to wield the big stick should also be extended to other system with system so rotten as the NNPCL,” the former governor stated.
