‘God has favoured, defended, vindicated and promoted me’
By John Odunayo
The Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo Ilufemiloye I, Okinbaloye II, has given all the glory of his victory in the court case challenging his emergence as oba to God.
Oba Adeagbo, joined by his family members, friends, well wishers and Otun Ekiti indigenes, was at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Eleti, Otun Ekiti for a Thanksgiving Service over the victory and other successes in recent time.
The monarch appreciated God with his presence, songs, dance steps and substance as usual on the occasion.
Recall that the Oore was recently appointed as Southwest Coordinator of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria and he is billed for honour at a grande event in Lagos on August 25.
Although Oba Adeagbo said it was a day for rejoicing, he delivered a powerful speech to the gathering which read this:
Praise the Lord!
Children of God shout Hallelujah!
🎤🎸🎻🎹🎼Come and join me sing Hallelujah, Jehovah Jireh has done me well 2ice
“Today, I stand before this congregation to thank the Lord for his abiding presence, for His support for defending and promoting me.
“Many of you are witnesses to many of the events of the past four years, while there were other battles which were known to only myself and my God.
“Today, I stand before you all as the man who God has favoured, defended, vindicated and promoted.
“While some people were challenging my choice as the rightful person to sit on the throne of my forefathers, the Almighty elevated the stool and I became a permanent member of the National Council of Traditional Rulers. Not that alone, I also had the honour of representing the entire House of Oduduwa in far away Warri at a most crucial time in the history of that ancient Kingdom.
“As you all know, I was recently appointed into the highly revered office of the Southwest Coordinator of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria.
“Just last week, the Almighty through the High Court of Ekiti State validated and affirmed that my selection and eventual coronation almost five years ago followed due process.
“I seize this opportunity to invite all aggrieved persons to join hands with our community as we progress into a more modern, more united and more prosperous community.
“This indeed is the Lord’s doing and it is marvellous in our sight.
“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate everyone that stood by us throughout our trying period, particularly the Obanla and the entire Oore-in-Council, the President and entire exco of Egbe omo Otun, the female chiefs, the Elemeso and Olojuse, clergymen and clerics, trade associations, members of my family and my friends both of Otun extraction and across the length and breadth of the globe.
“I thank the Government of Ekiti State, particularly the former Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who ensured that the important stool of Oore was not left vacant for too long, thus he ensured that the shutdown of Covid 19 did not frustrate the selection process. He also approved a generous donation towards the celebration of my first coronation anniversary.
“I thank Otun Ekiti sons and daughters at home and in Diaspora for their patriotism and support.
“Today is not really a day for long speeches rather it is a day of rejoicing. Let us be glad and rejoice it. Oluwa seun o. Ayo wa ko ni di ibanuje, Amin,” oba Adeagbo prayed.
